Dumbledore had summoned Sirius back to him after he’d gone to gather the other Order meetings. At first he had grumbled about being treated like a bloody lapdog, but Remus rightly pointed out that he had been complaining about not being given anything to do. He hadn’t thought that it was safe to be at Hogwarts, but Dumbledore had ushered him in through a secret passage and got him tucked into a room he’d never seen before. At first he thought he was alone, but then he saw the other.
“L-Lily? No. No, you’re dead,” He half wondered if she was a ghost brought back to haunt him for all he’d failed to do.
‘ sirius! ‘
thin arm wrapped around his neck, pulling him into her arms. he’d changed
so much, she hardly even recognized him. fingers idly brushed through the
ends of his hair, locks which he had never seen so unkept. it felt nice to see
a familiar face, no matter how hard she had to squint to see HER sirius. he
wasn’t as she remembered, but she was sure he hadn’t changed that much.
after a few moments, she pulled away, hands resting on his shoulders.
‘ … i’m so sorry, sirius. i didn’t - james asked dumbledor to hide me when
we found out about the prophecy. i’ve been under a memory charm. they
both well knew i wouldn’t go quietly. i’ve only known a few days, myself… ‘
