A rather long, in depth background for little miss Lily Evans;
to get started, i’d like to say that this is just one person’s headcanon. i don’t expect everyone to roll with it alright, i just really like to be thorough with my characters. please don’t take my headcanons though, because that sucks and dude bro man i’ll know alright just trust me. SO here we go.
family
maternal grandfather : charles hall baker
maternal grandmother : judith lilian baker
mother : olivia marie evans (née baker)
paternal grandfather : daniel paxton evans
paternal grandmother : penelope-ann evans
father : daniel (II) cohen evans
sister : petunia-ann evans
lilian jude evans, named after her maternal grandmother. second born to olivia & daniel evans. younger sister to one petunia(-ann) evans. petunia was named because while olivia hated the name penelope-ann, she wanted to name her first daughter after her husbands mother. olivia is a gardener and small business owner, selling flowers and other like things part-time. thus, she named her first daughter after her favorite flower - a petunia. the names penelope and petunia felt close enough to her, especially when she gave her the same middle name. they had intended to only have one child, but lily was a happy accident. she was born not even a year after her grandmother (judith) passed away, named as a tribute to her memory.
both daughters grew up loved, sheltered, and cared for. they are expected to be of at least middle class, if not upper middle class in terms of wealth. while olivia spends most of her time at home with the girls, daniel works full time as a physician (pediatrics). when he’s not at work, he’s at home in his office. he makes an attempt to be present at least a couple hours a day, showing up for family meals. he’ll tend to take sundays off, so as to spend at least a little time with his girls.

* note that petunia’s room is much more plain / boring than lily’s. i did that on purpose. i wanted the rift between lily and petunia to be very obvious. it’s clear, just by their living standers, who was more adored than the other.
Severus
lily met sev when she was nine years old. they clicked pretty instantly, and he became her closest friend. both olivia and daniel treat severus as if he were their own son, making sure he’s always welcome and comfortable around the house. it sometimes gets to the point where they’re a little overbearing with their affections towards him. they’re fascinated by both he and lily due to their ability to use magic. they tend to make a point out of inviting him to family trips, dinners out, ec.
Petunia
they grew up very close to one another. it wasn’t until lily began to blossom as a witch that their issues began. petunia felt left out and abandoned by her parents, who would put lily on a pedestal due to what she was. by age 12, when lily (11 at that point) got her letter to hogwarts, her parents began to blatantly favor lily. this caused a strain on her relationship with her sister, not because of anything one did to the other, but simply because they were destined to live two different lives. they’ve always loved and cared for each other, but petunia sometimes has a hard time over coming her jealousy and frustration.
